The automotive and enterprise Internet of Things market is said to grow up to 5.8 billion endpoints in the year 2020, according to the prediction from Gartner. Nevertheless, the new reports suggest that by the end of 2019, the endpoints are going to be around 4.8 billion. Moreover, this figure is about the endpoints which will be in use, and it represents approximately 21.5 percent increase from the previous year.
The utilization of the Internet of Things endpoints will be highest with overall endpoints of 1.17bn in the year 2019. However, by the time the world progresses to 2020, the endpoint will grow up to almost 17 percent by reaching 1.37 billion endpoints.
Gartner's senior research director, Peter Middleton said that the factors would drive an increased utility adoption of the Internet of Things endpoints. The senior director of Gartner also said that smart metering of electricity for both commercial and residential would boost adoption of the Internet of Things among several utilities.
Moreover, Gartner also predicts that the Internet of Things devices which aids in indoor surveillance, and intruder detection would drive volume along with physical security. By the looks of it, this IoT application will be the second massive IoT endpoint in the year 2020.
When it comes to building automation it will witness a massive growth of around 42% in the year 2020. It would connect lighting devices along with healthcare and automotive devices. Moreover, healthcare will see an increase of about 29 percent, whereas automotive would witness a growth of 31 percent.
In China, the smart metering for electricity will be the top-most use case across Western Europe in the year 2020. It will represent 26 percent as well as 12 percent of overall IoT growth. North America would see the highest implementation in curating building intruder systems and window sensors.
